1973 Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS) came to the Gangpur Mission. Their first community started at Bondamunda.
1974 Bishop Raphael Cheenath, SVD, ordained Bishop to succeed Bishop Herman Westermann, SVD. He was ordained by his predecessor, in Hamirpur, on May 18. Bp. Herman Westermann left India on May 23, for good.
1975 Fr. Alphonse Bilung, SVD, elected the first Indian Regional of Sambalpur Region
  The first ever English –Sadri Dictionary published by Fr. Edgar Blain, SVD.
  SVD took up the Parish at Puri, in Cuttack-Bhubaneswar.
1979

Sambalpur diocese bifurcated to constitute the new diocese of Rourkela. “Sambalpur diocese” now finds its headquarters at Sambalpur. Msgr. Alphonse Bilung, SVD, and the first Bishop of the newly constituted diocese of Rourkela ordained Bishop on November 3, at Rourkela.

1982 St. Joseph Freinademetz Brothers’ Formation Centre at Begdehi.
  Dinabandhu Vocational Training Centre at Jharsuguda started.
  SVD took up the Turbunga parish in the Archdiocese of Ranchi (now Gumla diocese).
1984 St. Lawrence School at Tentoloi, Talcher opened.
1985

Rt. Rev. Raphael Cheenath, SVD, became the Archbishop of Cuttact-Bhubaneswar on August 11.

1986

The first translation of the New Testament in Sadri released on March 9. The translation was done under the leadership of Fr. Anthony Kujur and printed at Sat Prachar Press, Indore.

1987 Msgr. Lucas Kerketta was ordained a Bishop of Sambalpur on March 1.
  Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloya, the Regional Theologate opened at Sason, Sambalpur.
1989 SVD took up the Jajpur Road Parish in Cuttack-Bhubaneswar.
1992

SVD took up the Ambassa Mission in Tripura in the North East in Agartala diocese.
1994 A new structure for St. Arnold Vikas Sanchar is inaugurated. (Audio Recording Studio is set up in 1998).

1997 Vidya Jyoti, SVD minor seminary, opened at Lungai, Rourkela.
1998 St. Arnold’s School opened at Kalinga Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
2001

Divine Word College opened at Janssen Nagar, Gaibira
